Just goes to show you - as long as you are a part of the "org" and doing all that the FDS tells you to do, you are a superior being. It doesn't matter if you cheat, lie, steal, abuse kids/wife etc, they think they are better than you. You're just going to die in the "Big A" anyways.

i remember i was in high school and i really wanted to get on the theocratic ministry school.
i was making progress, started getting responsibilities like the microphones, helped do little jobs e.t.c and slowly i was being brought into the center of the congregation.. i went for my "interview" to get on the theocratic ministry school and...... they knocked me back.
told me 'someone' had told them i was swearing and even if it wasn't true they wanted me to spend more time upbuilding my faith.
You actually wanted to be on the TMS???!!!
I didn't - but had no choice, my mom signed me up - I never had any interviews or anything. My mom groomed me from an early age to be on the TMS - getting me up there whenever she had a part. Sometimes they actually made their talks into little skits with costumes and props.

many of the jw's i grew up with had "family day", a kind of pseudo-christmas, where each family member would draw another's name and buy a gift for that person.
they'd then have a special day where they'd exchange gifts and have a meal together.
my family started doing this when i was in my mid 20's.
We never had "Family Day", but I knew of others that did on their parents anniversary. Word got out and they were told to stop - it was too much like Christmas. (FYI - the fathers of these two families were elders - it didn't look good for the R&F).
We tried that one year, around Christmas time, and my mom and sis participated, but said afterwards they woildn't do it anymore - it made them feel too uncomfortable.

he, and his family are going through a tough time right now.
he got a call that his dad has a tumor, and also found something in his liver, believed to be cancer.
i just wanted everyone to let him know we are all here for him and his family!.

well the memorial is tmrw night and time is running out to give out invitations.

last night my mother asked me if i've heard from any of my old jw friends.
I finally received an invite on Sunday am. I just barely avoided them seeing me at the door, and I didn't answer it. They letf two mags and an invite in the door. My JW family has not said anything to me as of yet. We've gone to their hall for the last three years (another town). I found that curious, although my mom knows now that I don't want to go to meetings anymore, and knows I don't believe in FDS. Maybe that's why.
I was really hoping we wouldn't get an invite. I really don't want to go, but I know my husband will. If I did not get an invite I was not going to mention anything, but now I think I'll have to. Bummer.

my in-laws still attend meetings and defend the faith to the best of their limited ability.
i saw limited, as their understanding of the faith ended somewhere around the 1980's and when you bring up new understanding, they think it might be apostate and do not listen.
there not alone, trust me, several witnesses do not grasp the changes.

I haven't listened to all the recordings - only the DF meeting and man! it was the longest 11 minutes of my life!! I can't imagine how you were able to sit there through all that blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. That bro sure did like to hear himself speak!!
It sounded like at the end where he was telling you about the appeal process, that it hardly ever changes the decision - it's just delaying the announcement.
At least they let you know up front that "resistance is futile".

hi everyone, i have a friend, who wants me to attend the meetings again.
he has said that the faithful and discreet slave are inviting those that have not attended for awhile, to come to the memorial, and then there is going to be a special talk in april-may, and then they want us to come to the convention in the summer.
which apparently will be about welcoming those who once were involved to come back.
It is only right that they should try to herd the sheep back into their pen.Baaaaaaaah!

My feelings echo jws. Everything related to the JW's was for show, it was all outward apperances and doing what was expected of you. I tried to tell this to my family, but so far haven't grasped this yet. They can see that I have changed, that I'm a much more happier, more centered person. That I very rarely get sick anymore, but can't fathom that it's because of leaving this so called religion.
So far we are in a don't ask/don't tell situation. I'm here and ready to help them feel the way I do now when they are ready.
